Em agosto de 2014 estaremos realizando na
cidade de Patos de Minas, Minas Gerais (Brasil),
o 6° Simpósio
Brasileiro de Geologia do Diamante / 3rd South
American Symposium on Diamond Geology.
Organizado pela SBG-Núcleo MG, conjuntamente
com a Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG),
tal evento pretende reunir a comunidade geológica
dedicada ao estudo do diamante em suas mais
diversas áreas temáticas.
Nessa ocasião, a exemplo dos eventos
anteriores realizados em Cuiabá (1993,
1997), Brasília (2001), Diamantina (2005)
e Tibagi (2010), esperamos contar com a participação
de pesquisadores e técnicos, nacionais
e internacionais, para juntos trocarmos experiências,
conhecimentos e buscarmos novos caminhos para
a o desenvolvimento científico desse
tão fantástico “rei”
do Reino Mineral.
Em destaque, comemoraremos também,
os 300 anos da descoberta do diamante no Brasil,
ocorrida no Estado de Minas Gerais em 1714,
e que tornou o país seu maior produtor
mundial por cerca de 150 anos.
O
evento já tem confirmada a participação
especial dos eméritos
pesquisadores Stephen Haggerty, Jim Shigley
e Wuyi Wang (EUA), e Viktor Garanin (Rússia),
que realizarão palestras em suas especialidades:

In august 2014, we'll be hosting the
6th Brazilian Symposium
on Diamond Geology / 3rd South American Symposium
on Diamond Geology that will take
place in the city of Patos de Minas, Minas Gerais,
Brazil. It will be organized by the Brazilian
Society of Geology (MG Nucleus) and the Federal
University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), and intends
to bring together the geology community dedicated
to diamond study, in its most diverse thematic
areas.
On that occasion, as well as it was in earlier
events hosted in Cuiabá (1993,1997), Brasília
(2001), Diamantina (2005) and Tibagi (2010), we
count on the participation of researchers and
technicians, national and international, so that
together we can exchange experiences, knowledge
and seek new ways to the scientific development
of this amazing "king" of the mineral
kingdom.
Another important fact is the celebration
of the 300 years of diamond discovery in Brazil
that occurred in the state of Minas Gerais in
1714, and made the country the world's largest
producer for about 150 years.
The
participation
in the event has already been confirmed by the
emeritus researchers Stephen Haggerty, Jim Shigley
and Wuyi Wang (USA), and Viktor Garanin (Russia),
which will give lectures on their notorious
